CHOREOGRAPHER . COACH . COMPETITION JUDGE . BRAND AMBASSADOR

I’m Aja, choreographer & brand ambassador

I’m lucky to have found my passion in life as early as I did, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

A little bit about me!! My name is Aja Jude Schon, and I started my love for dance at the young age of 2 years old at Marin Ballet Company in Marin County, CA. I was lucky enough to close my years as a competitive dancer at 18 as a captain of Senior Line at The Dance Warehouse in Chanhassen, MN. I have also had the honor of training at Joffrey Ballet School for two summers, learning from the best of Broadway & the USA.

After hanging up my hat as a competitive and professional dancer, I was ready to start a new chapter as a choreographer, coach, and competition judge. I wanted to share my love of dance, help dancers grow, and create my own moving masterpieces. Since 2020, I have been choreographing at The Dance Warehouse in Minnesota, HJ Dance in Lincoln, and for various studios across the country. I also love collaborating with other talented choreographers to create something that really pushes the imagination.

With various choreography awards and top overall high point wins over the  years my passion is fuels by being able to see the growth in my students and working with them again year over year. I would love to work with you and your dancers and look forward to connecting!

GET TO KNOW ME

Just a few of the things that are prominently featured in my life

LOVE TO EAT:

Sushi !!! All the way.

MY FAV MUSIC BANDS

I’m the biggest die-hard Taylor Swift fan you’ll meet. I’ll fight anyone who tries to insult the queen.

FAVORITE STYLE TO CHOREOGRAPH

Either CLASSIC lyrical or contemporary, but I love choreographing in the “in-between” area Open. Those routines tend to be where I am most creative and do some of my best work.

FAVORITE COLLABORATION:

Working with Eva Igo (@evaigo2002) on my sisters piece called “Radiation” was truly something special. We bounced off of each other in so many different ways, and we created the most perfect dance for the meaning/purpose at hand.

IF I WASN´T A CHOREOGRAPHER..

Oh boy. I think that if I hadn’t decided to to take choreography seriously, I would be looking to pursue law school to become a family court lawyer.

I´M MOST THANKFUL FOR:

My mom for never giving up on me, Tracy Standal for always believing in me, and my sister for always sticking by me! My students are also a huge part of the reason I am who I am today. The kiddos have truthfully shaped me to be a better person these past three years!

“Aja exudes being kind to everyone and lead by example, she is the girl that you wanted your daughter to look up to and spend time with. Aja is thoughtful and kind yet strong and determined to get the most out of my daughter.

Aja’s communication skills were superior and when the girls practiced, she made the most out of the time she had with the dancers. Aja had high expectations yet made the time spent working hard, fun. Always a smile on her face, a hug to be shared in good times and bad and constructive criticism wrapped in a bow of love. Aja is driven, hardworking, yet relatable, the dancers wanted to make her proud and I saw incredible growth in all the girls that worked with Aja. Her passion for dance is apparent in all that she does, the choreography, the way she collaborates with the dancers, the energy she shares when they compete, it is very similar to what you saw on stage when Aja performed, which I think is a skill unto itself. Aja choreographed some of the most awarded dances at our studio this year and the fact that she had never done this before working with many different dancers, some she knew, some she had to get to know quickly and yet crafted beautiful dances that highlighted the strengths of these dancers, is incredible. I highly recommend Aja as a choreographer but more importantly as a human.”
